AboutMe

My name is Maribel and I am 30 years who has lived with kidney failure/ End Stage Renal Disease and was on the waiting list for a kidney transplant five years. I have lived with nephrotic syndrome (decreased kidney function) since the birth of my youngest son in 2001. After 4 years of being monitored by a nephrologist my kidney function failed. I was on hemodialysis treatments for the first 2 1/2 years and on PD Home treatments for the last 2 1/2. I received my gift of life on February 23, 2010 exactly around the same time my kidneys failed. I was apart of the first donor chain UC Davis performed and recieved my kidney from a stranger up until the time we were united on March 31, 2010. Read more on my blogs but will write the whole transplant story soon…

I am first and foremost a child of God, a proud mother of 2 beautiful sons and happily married to my high school sweetheart. I try to stay active and spiritually healthy. I’ve found there is a strong connection when your spirits is up the health follows, despite the present health condition; I’ve been able to rely on my Lord and Savior to get me through each day and truly focus on following His path for my life. I continue to pursue personal, spiritual and professional goals and I am focused on living the best life I possibly can despite my physical state giving myself in service where ever I can.
